VIDEO PROCEDURES

Students are required to record videos for their Proficiency Tests and makeups for quizzes. Recording videos at home can be done using a phone, laptop camera, or any other video device.

All videos must have an audible metronome. Your ability to follow the metronome is a major part of the grade. Your face and fingers must be seen in the video for identification, and for teacher and student assessment of embouchure, fingerings, posture, bowing and bow grip.

The videos must be uploaded and submitted via Canvas for Proficiency Tests.

For makeups, the videos must be uploaded to Google Drive (not Canvas) then a link must be shared with the teacher. No videos are to be emailed to the teacher.

MAKEUPS: Submitting videos via Google Drive link (NOT CANVAS)

This is for MAKEUPS only! Google Drive links are required since email doesn't allow large video files.

  1. Complete your video with your phone as described above.

  2. If you don't have a GMAIL account, create one for free. With the free account, you get a free Google Drive (online storage space). If you already have one, move on to number 3.

  3. Upload your video file to the Google Drive directly from your phone, or email it to yourself so that you can open it on your computer. From you computer you can upload to the Google Drive by dragging the file into the drive folder.

  4. Right click on the file from the Google Drive and click "Get Shareable Link." This should automatically copy the share link for you.

  5. Paste this link in an email to me (Saenz.Joseph@franklin-academy.org) and make sure your email subject has the assignment name and your name in it.

  6. Click send.

All video assignments must be recorded with the metronome at the correct tempo. The metronome must be heard in the recording as well so that I can evaluate the students ability to keep time. If a student doesn't possess a metronome, they should use the online metronome. The link for the online metronome is found on the Resources page of this site under "Links."
